Journey: Revelation

All right, I shall begin by saying that I do not own THIS DESIGN. It belongs to whoever makes the awesome cover art for the rock band Journey. The Journey website is here:

Whoever designed this did such an awesome job that I wanted to try to copy the scarab just for fun. I AM NOT trying to make money off the design, I'm just posting it on dA because I really like how it turned out.

HOWEVER: This particular piece belongs to me. I worked a very long time copying this scarab from a 5"x 5" CD cover onto a 9"x12" sheet of drawing paper; that's why I'm putting the dA watermark on it instead of my special watermark. So, please don't try to repost this drawing anywhere and claim that you drew it. That's stealing.

Now that that's all cleared up, some of you Journey fans may be wondering, "Why'd BloodMoonEquinox draw the Revelation album? Arnel Pineda sucks and can never replace Steve Perry!"

Well, I think you're wrong. I think Mr. Pineda is a fantastic singer and is just as good as Steve Perry. His story is a very inspiring one, too, and I quite enjoy listening to some of the covers he did with his original band The Zoo (his version of "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi is absolutely amazing! ). In fact, for some songs, I prefer Arnel's voice to Steve's. So, if you ever come across this, Arnel: YOU ROCK!

And it's not that I hate Steve Perry, either. I love Steve's voice and I think he's great--in fact, I've had "Oh Sherrie" on repeat for most of the day (yes, I'm fully aware of what a freak I am). It's just that Steve has retired, and it would be nice if fans would respect his decision and not "dis" Arnel for becoming Journey's new frontman.

So, that's my little rant about the whole Steve vs. Arnel debate that one can find in the comments of practically any YouTube video that is even remotely related to Journey. On a side note, my favorite member of Journey is actually Jonathan Cain. His piano is absolutely brilliant, and Journey songs are so much fun to play on the piano because of him!

Well...there's not much left to say about this piece except that it took a really long time, making sure the wings were symmetrical (well, as symmetrical as possible--I'm aware that they're a little off in places). My favorite part is the body of the scarab. I think the blue-green jewel tones turned out very well!
